Kebetulan malem itu lihat buku cerita Ahmed Lady Bug series yang Farm, gambarnya lucu lucu tentang farm animals. Salah satunya gambar ayam si blorok ini...

Kalau si Ballena (ikan paus atau whale in spanish) idenya dari gambar children book juga, tapi dari iklan di excess bookstore he..he.. lucu banget..,

Ternyata bikin boneka gak susah susah amat cuma pas ngisi fibernya agak2 gak puas. Untuk sudut sudut memang sudah diisi dan di seselin pake sumpit biar rata, pas lekuk an juga udah di gunting biar bisa melengkung tapi entah kenapa pas ngisi yang rata kok malah jadi gak rata he..he.. di padet padetin jadinya gak empuk lagi.

Gak papa deh, bisa juga kok ternyata...

Libur telah tiba... libur telah tiba hore..hore..hore...

Sebentar lagi di Indonesia libur kenaikan kelas tiba, di KL anak anak International Islamic School (IIS) sudah libur, anak anak sekolah kebangsaan pun mulai libur, sedangkan anak anak sekolah internasional yang lain sebentar lagi juga libur.... antara 1,5 sampai 2 bulan...

Pusiiiing... ngapain ya ? jalan jalan..? liburan pulang kampung ? atau cuma di rumah terus main game ? nggak banget lah yaaaa...

Kita ajak aja anak anak crafting yuuk buat mengisi waktu liburnya...

Kali ini kita buat tempat handphone atau BB atau iPhone dari felt.

Alat dan Bahan :

- Kain felt warna warni
- Benang aneka warna sesuai warna kain felt
- Gunting
- Jarum jahit
- Pensil
- Penggaris
- Kancing
- Tali tas
- Mata boneka
- Lem UHU
Cara membuat :

- Gunting kain felt sesuai ukuran handphonemu, Panjang 2 kali handphone + 5cm (atau sesuai selera) untuk tutupnya

- Buat design gambar yang ingin dibuat
- Potong kain felt sesuai design (contohnya gambar owl )
- Jahit kain felt yang sudah di potong, atur jarak sesuai yg diinginkan, jangan terlalu kebawah.
- Gunakan tusuk feston.

- Jahitkan semua bagian dan tempel mata dan paruh dengan lem UHU

- Lipat seperti amplop dengan tutupnya
- Jahit sekeliling dengan tusuk feston, mulai dari kiri bawah
- Pasangkan tali dan kancing

- Siap digunakan...

Triangular Scarf in Leaf Pattern

This is my first triangular scarf knitting lace...

It was our KAL in Dynamic crocet-knit group, the pattern is from Thata's book which I don't remember what book is it...

Using 4mm (or 4,5 ? ) sircular needle and 2 balls of ICTS cotton thread from Thalenta...

Finished size should be bigger than this, just because I only have 1 ball and Thata said that it will be anough for small version so I just have a go... but then .. it's not enough...

Thanks to Fenny, she still got the only one ball for this colours...

I am so happy with it, and plan to make another triangular shawl... which is bigger... (cross my finger...) someday...he..he..

I wanted to make a shabby colour for her, but still don't have idea about the pattern, when I visit Amanda's blog here I know what I should do...

It's Easy as a pie ... It is easy and only need one day to finish it, and I love the colours....

I am using lokal malaysian cotton mix with Indonesian cotton, and just straight line for the quilt.

Hope Dini will like it, so sorry just make the blanket now... hope it will keep baby Qaleysa warm and comfy... and good luck for your transfer to Houston... wish you all the best...

How do I baste my quilt...

Beberapa waktu lalu sempat buat status di FB kalo aku sedang berkutat dengan jarum panjang dan sendok… aku lagi ngebasting quilt…!!

Lho.. kok pake sendok ? untuk apa …

Nah… inilah caraku baste my quilt..

Pertama, hamparkan backing merata di lantai atau meja besar. Biar kainnya gak bergeser geser dan tetep flat aku tempelin pake isolasi.

Yang kedua letakkan batting di atasnya, untuk selimut biasanya aku pakai yang agak tebel, tapi kalau untuk wall hanging atau lap quilt aja aku suka pakai yang tipis, biar gampang ngequiltnya. Yang lebih enak lagi pakai batting yang katun, tipis tapi tetep anget, tapi… mahal banget…

Batting biasanya aku lebihkan besarnya daripada backing dan quilt topnya, karena biasanya agak ketarik saat di quilt.

Setelah itu baru quilt topnya di atas batting. Pelan pelan ratakan quilt top nya. Dan siap untuk di basting.

Gunakan jarum basting yang panjang dan benang warna kontras biar jelas. Mulai dari tengah jelujur ke samping dengan jarak yang sama, kira kira setelapak tangan.

Nah, gunanya sendok disini untuk mengambil jarum yang habis ditusuk ke lapisan kainnya. Biasanya kalau agak tebal dan dasar kainnya melekat di lantai kan susah narik jarumnya, kalau pakai sendok akan gampang dan cepat. Lihat gambar

Lakukan terus sampai selesai dan siap untuk di quilt pake tangan atau mesin.

Selain pakai jelujur, untuk basting bisa juga pake safety pin curved, atau kalau susah carinya bisa juga pake peniti biasa. Yang punyaku di atas aku combine pake pin dan jelujur, atau bisa juga pake basting spray, tapi belum pernah makenya jadi gak tahu kayak apa...

Sebenernya selain basting needle yang panjang ini bisa juga pake curved needle atau jarum bengkok yang besar, tapi aku gak suka makenya… enak pake sendok..

Few days ago I was asked by someone if I knit Apple cozy...
Well I do not knit it but I can do something like this, It's crochet Apple Cozy

She ask if I could make it as a wedding gift, and of course I can...! I was so excited since those apple cozy are really cute and I want to accept her order so much...

But then, she cancel it... *sob..sob...*
It's OK, hope she will contact me again next time and order something...

And...
I just want to share the pattern I made with you, maybe it's a bit different with another apple cozy like the one in Ravelry but I think it's work for me.

So.. just try it...

Apple cozy

For small size apple

Yarn : ICTS by Thata or Katun Bali by Tulip

Hook : 3,5mm

Make adjustable ring and 3 chain (count as 1 dc)

R1 : 9dc, joint in ring with sl st. (10dc)

R2 : 3ch, 2dc in each st joint with sl st (20dc)

R 3 : 3cd, 2dc in each st joint with sl st ( 40dc)

R4 : 3ch, 13 dc, 1 dc inc, 10 dc, 1 dc inc, 8dc, 1 dc inc, 5dc (43dc)

R5 : 1ch, sc in every st (43sc)

R6 : 1 ch, sc in every st, turn (do not joint with sl st, )

R7 : same as R6

R8 : 3ch, dc in every st, turn

R9 : same as R8

R10 & R 11 : same as R 6

R12 : same as R8

R 13, R14, R15 : same as R6. BO

For finishing : sc in every sc around, and make 15 chain for button, sl st and bind off

Sew the button and ready as a gift….

Blanket for my newborn nephew

This blanket is for my nephew who was born 11-1-11 ... that's a unique day...
A baby boy... so I made this brown and green with felt applique of plane, car and boat...

Blue aeroplane and Grey propeller, colors chose by Ahmed... well done Ahmed... it's beautifull

I am not happy with those quilting, too tight I think. I like the quilt pattern below better than above

Bersama temen temen di Dinamic Cronit bikin project cepat si Matrioska ini...

So cute, punyaku jadi gendut kurang fitness gini yaa..

Kalau pengen buat juga ini linknya, pattern dari sini , bahasanya sih gak ngerti blasss... tapi ada translatenya dan gambarnya jelas.

Nah... pengen juga dong bikin yang versi Indonesia... secara kita punya banyaaaakk baju daerah.
Iseng bikin yang none jakarte, ceritanya pake kerudung gitu dan tangan didada, hi..hi.. tapi jadinya aneh gini yaa..

Satu lagi pengen yang baju jawa pake sanggul gitu, berkebaya merah... tapi jadi kayak oshin ha..ha.. atau kayak mbok bariyah si unyil yaa...

Cereal Box Puppet

It's for English assessment, about drama. Students have to make puppet - any puppet - and create their own dialog and show it to class...
Parents need to assist in making the puppet.

I told Ahmed what if I make a rabbit or bear hand puppet from fabric or felt...?
He said no, he wanted puppet from cereal box, and it's about knight ... like his lego knight toys..

Alamaaak... ok my boy, ibu make these for you, promise me to speak loudly in class will you...?

So I made these puppet from cereal box, chop stick and for the hand I sew and make a knot so that he can move the hands .

Kali ini bikinin pesenan golfer terkasih alias suami...

Belio minta buatin dompet buat nyimpen pernak pernik golfnya, biar gak berceceran. OK deh ayah..

Bikin yang simple aja, warna merah matching sama tas golfnya, kombinasi warna biru biar cerah.
Pakai loop kecil biar bisa digantung gitu, tapi ternyata sama belio dimasukin di kantung tas aja gak digantung.

Penasaran ngintip isinya... ternyataaaaa... itu to...

Tutorial - Bento Case - Tempat Pembawa Makanan

Bento case atau tempat pembawa makanan ini praktis untuk bawa makanan saat pengajian ataupun sebagai pot luck di acara kumpul kumpul bersama teman.

Dari pada makanan di bawa dalam tas plastik kan lebih cantik kalau di bawa pakai bento case ini, selain mudah bawanya juga gak berdebu karena tertutup, dan juga ramah lingkungan ...

Yuk kita bikin...

Bahan :
Untuk diameter 16 inch ( muat untuk pyrex diameter 10 inch)

- Kain katun motif
- Kain katun polos
- Dacron
- Benang sesuai warna
- Tali
- Stoper

Cara membuat :
Cutting :
- Potong kain motif (2 x) dan polos 1 x - lingkaran dengan diameter 16 inch atau sesuai ukuran pyrex ( 3 lingkaran --- 2 motif dan 1 polos)
- Potong bagian tengah lingkaran motif untuk bukaan atas, dan gunting searah jari jari.
- untuk pegangan :
potong kain motif 2 x (2" x 16 ")
Potong kain polos 2 x (2" x 16")
potong kain polos 4 x (1" x 16")
- Untuk lapisan pinggir :
potong kain polos 2 x ( 1" x 5") --- untuk lapisan atas
potong miring untuk lapisan tempat tali dan lapisan luar bento case

Cara Menjahit :
1. Tumpuk berurutan lapisan bawah (motif), dacron dan lapisan dalam (polos)
Jahit kotak kotak seperti gambar diatas. Sisihkan dahulu
2. Untuk lapisan atas, jahit terlebih dahulu pinggiran tempat bukaan (searah jari jari), kemudian jahit tempat tali
3. Untuk pegangan, tumpukkan polos dan motif dan beri lapisan pinggir dengan kain polos
4. Setelah semua bagian siap susun secara berurutan bagian dasar, bagian atas dan pegangan
5. Jahit lapisan pinggir luar bento case
6. Pasangkan tali

Siap untuk digunakan..

Siang ini harusnya ada beberapa kerjaan yang harus diselesaikan...

Pesanan tempat makanan 3 biji belum dijahit dari beberapa minggu lalu, mini quilt SWAP bersama 3 sahabat belum juga dijahit, sementara WIP crochet dan beberapa project kecil juga gak kepegang... entah kenapa males banget mulainya yaa... padahal minggu lalu udah mulai lagi ikutan CAL dan KAL nya DC...

Sementara mau masak, air lagi mati, mesin cuci juga di pause dulu karena air yang keluar keciiiiiilll banget. Anak anak belum lagi pulang, pagi tadi habis dari dokter gigi, belanja, cuci mobil dan bersih bersih rumah. Mestinya siang ini bisa selesai tuh kerjaan jahitan aku...

Pernahkah dikau mengalaminya friends...??
Aku kok sering banget yaa... akhir akhir ini seolah gak ada yang bikin semangat banget to do crafty thing... dulu kayaknya wiiihhh ... mau bikin ini itu semangaaaaaattt banget, serasa kekurangan waktu gara gara pengen cepet selesai..

Menurutmu wahai crafty friends, manakah yang lebih baik :

- Bisa banyak hal tapi gak punya speciality ataukah
- Gak perlu semua bisa tapi satu saja yang dikuasai banget, be the master...

Obrolan gak bertopik ini cuma curhat, mana tahu ada temen senasib seperasaan...

Apakah karena gak fokus itu yang menurunkan semangat ?
Apakah karena gak fokus di satu kemampuan itu yang bikin semua kerjaan jadi gak fokus juga ?
Karena semua mau dan akibatnya jadi setengah setengah ?

Pernah ku mengeluh ke suami... kutanya dia, '.. Yah, menurut ayah mana lebih baik punya satu kemampuan dan ahli di bidang itu atau bisa banyak hal...?'
Suamiku waktu itu bilang.... ' kerjakan aja apa yang ibu mau... gak usah terlalu dipikirin... lakukan apa yang ibu suka...' ..ah.. kali dia juga lagi males mikir waktu itu, as long as you happy just do it lah gitu katanya.

Sebenernya model peniti jilbab yang berjuntai ini sudah lama ada di Indonesia, tapi entah kenapa gak tertarik buat makenya, selain karena aku terbiasa pake 'kerudung malas' he..he.. alias kerudung instan yang tinggal masuk, juga gak suka pake yang ribet ribet jadi aja gak tertarik blas sama peniti ini.

tapi setelah ngajar para TKW di shelter ketemu juga cara membuatnya, ih.. jadi penasaran deh...
so belanja di Petaling Street yang lengkap dan ... tadaaaa.... jadilah beberapa peniti seperti diatas..

Terakhir posting bulan November ya, berarti 2 bulan sudah gak ada posting apa apa di blog ini.
Gak papa deh, yuk kita mulai aktif lagi, kebetulan ada beberapa karya yang mau di share...

Kembali ke memanfaatkan sisa sisa, tapi kali ini ditambah barang bekas... recycling lah...

Dirumah pasti banyak karton atau box bekas cereal, biskuit, atau kue kue... jangan dibuang ...

Lipat yang rapi dan kumpulkan, bisa dipakai untuk berkreasi bersama anak anak.

Bikin bookmark bertema cinta tanah air seperti diatas.

Bahannya sederhana, hanya cereal box, kertas putih (ini juga bisa dari sisa sisa atau printout yg tidak terpakai lagi), lem gunting dan sisa kain serta pita.

Caranya, cereal box dilapis dulu dengan kertas putih, gambar design yang diinginkan. Karena ini dalam rangka ngajar di shelter jadi yg ditekankan cinta tanah airnya. Kalau untuk anak anak biarkan mereka berkreasi, mungkin ingin design tokoh hero mereka atau princess yang cantik jelita...

Gunting kain sesuai design dan tempelkan di karton yang sudah dilapis dan dipotong sesuai ukuran yang dikehendaki.

Gunakan punch hole untuk melubangi dan pasangkan pitanya...

Di bagian belakang bisa ditulis dengan syair syair cinta tanah air atau kata kata mutiara penambah semangat.

Kalau design superhero bisa dituliskan kata kata sang superhero yang terkenal...

Pemanfaatan bahan sisa sisa... bisakah disebut recycling ?

Para quilter pasti punya banyak sisa sisa kain perca yg kecil kecil, yang kadang kadang gak cukup lagi untuk design patchworknya, tapi mau dibuang sayang...

Bikin appliqué untuk kaos aja seperti ini...

Cuma perlu kaos putih atau warna yg polos, gambar sedikit dan huruf warna warni untuk nama anak.

Ahmed maunya gambar gajah, ibu tambahin jerapah ya mas... tapi kok jadinya kayak snail.. he..he..

Alhamdulillah... finally finish..

I think I started to do it in 2009 because the pattern is from Interweave Knitting winter 2008 edition.. that was so long time ago..

The pattern is simple, just stockinette stitch, but that is the most boring one...

Anyway, dari pattern yang ada banyak yang aku sesuaikan dengan ukuranku.

Di bagian pinggang harusnya ada decrease untuk membentuk garis pinggang tapi yang ini aku biarkan los aja ke bawah, lurus dan lebar.

Panjang pullover juga aku panjangin dikit, soalnya di pattern pendek banget, so the vine pattern jadinya kepotong gitu... still need more practice for that..

Panjang tangan juga aku panjangin, jadinya karena kelamaan lupa berapa panjang yg kiri dan pas ngerjain yg kanan jadi bingung... waduh panjangnya berapa row ya...?? ha..ha..

Yang penting sih selesai juga akhirnya... alhamdulillah...

Ini sebenernya WIP dari tahun 2006 (OMG... hi..hi..!!)

Pertama 'nemu' Quilt Gallery yang di Bangsar Village II, bareng mbak wiwik nyoba ambil kursusnya. Sayangnya aku gak begitu suka kursus yg dijadwal dari jam segini sampai jam segini dalam berapa kali seminggu. Aku lebih suka kaya di Cottage Patch, gak terbatas waktunya, asal pengen nanya dateng aja sampai kelar projectnya.

Well... ini landscape quilt pertamaku. Masih belum halus nyambung nyambungnya..

Harusnya ada pake embellishment lebih bagus, atau ada pake decorasi jahitan, tapi yang ini udah jadi aja udah syukur...

Sebenernya waktu itu ambil kelas watercolour quilt juga tapi gak puas deh... dia gak kasih teori yang jelas jadi hasilnya juga belum bagus, belum berani posting..

InsyaAllah nanti mau ambil di CP aja...

The pattern is from Japanese Let's knit series, Spring and Summer 2008 edition.

I like the crochet or knit top but sometimes I feel uncomfortable wearing this, but I do enjoy crocheting them.

Still have many projects to continue....

Well, from mid july to mid august we back to Indonesia for holiday. We visited Surabaya, Bojonegoro, Malang, Yogya, and Mount Bromo, and we also went to Pangkal pinang in Bangka Island. It's was so fun....!!

I did not do much crafty thing during that time, but I finished this bolero for my niece...

Finally I received my granny exchange from Zarina, thank you so much...
I don't mind waiting so long for this gift coz what Zarina made are very beautiful, I like them..

It should be a tea cozy and a pair of coaster, but since I don't have tea pot I make it as a bag....!!
Zarina has added the lining so I just sew the handle and... voila.. it's a bag now..

I make the yellow and pink BM with felt and put these cute small birdy and bunny. I bought the felt in Indonesia which are much cheaper than here in KL. And you can find these cute ornament in many shapes and colours in Pasar Baru Bandung.. yea.. Bandung has all you need....

Made this granny bag for my secret partner (it's not secret anymore.....) for Needles n Craft Granny Exchage. The rule is we have to crochet granny square and I decided to make it as a bag. I use Minlon Acrylic and 3mm clover hook.

We also have to include two stash item for the exchange. As I don't know what other craft my partner do - I've searched to find her blog but couldn't find - and as she joint this exchange so I am sure she do crochet too. I include these 3 balls of Indonesian yarn. Cotton, Rayon cotton and a ball of pink yarn.

Vine Stitch Wrap

The pattern is from Vogue Knitting on the go Shawl... Vine Stitch Wrap.

Should be six coloum pattern but I only make 4, smaller. I use Indonesian yarn, not sure what kind of yarn it is, and 4mm Pony sircular needle. After finishing one ball of yarn I started to get bored... *sigh..* so just add a bit more and stop it.

Maybe I just use it as a shoulder warmer (is it the right name ?) instead of shawl or wrap.

Selama ini kalo bikin quilt selalunya pake hand quilting, atau kalau Cuma lurus lurus aja pake mesin juga ok, atau kalau mau free motion baru pake mesin juga.
Gak pernah ngequilt yang berpola pake mesin.

Bulan November kemarin aku ngambil kursus machine quilting di cottage patch. Pengen tahu aja sih adakah tehnik tehnik khususnya.

Pada dasarnya pada mesin quilt alat atau sepatu/foot yang digunakan ada 2, yaitu :

1. Darning foot
2. Even-feed foot atau walking foot

Darning Foot

Darning foot ini biasanya dipake untuk embroidery atau kalo quilting dipake untuk free motion quilt atau yang bermotif. Kalo kita pake sepatu ini, kain yang akan kita jahit nggak ada yang ‘mencengkeram’ jadi bebas bisa kita putar putar semau kita.
Misalnya kita ingin quilt dengan motif bunga, kita tinggal puter kain mengikuti garis bunganya, seperti gambar berikut (jelek banget…punyaku…)
Di foto itu kelihatan kan kalo jahitannya tidak konsisten, ada yang kecil ada yang besar (maklum baru belajar). Jadi untuk pemakaian darning foot ini kecepatan gerak kita juga berpengaruh, semakin pelan akan semakin kecil jahitannya, semakin cepat jadinya juga semakin besar kalo kita diamin dia akan menjahit ditempat gak akan bergerak. Perlu latihan biar terbiasa.

Atau bisa juga untuk free motion quilt seperti foto berikut.

Even feed foot atau walking foot

Even – feed foot digunakan untuk nge-quilt yang lurus lurus. Kalo kita make foot yang ini maka kain yang akan kita jahit akan ditarik otomatis oleh mesin, jadi gak seret gitu. Apalagi kalo batting yang kita pake agak tebel, biasanya akan seret, ya gak ?

Sepatu yang ini bisa juga sih dipake untuk yang bermotif, Cuma harus ngganti ganti posisi.
Contohnya foto dibawah ini quiltnya pake evenfeed foot.

Berikut ini adalah penampakan dari 2 foot tersebut. Ada 2 merk, yang satu untuk mesin Janome yang satu lagi untuk Singer, tapi prinsip dan kegunaan sama.

Pemakaian di mesin seperti ini, gagang yang putih itu diletakkan diatas sekrup.

January Click - Red

This is my first entry for the Click!...

A bit nervous since I am a very beginner in Photography, but it's ok... just try..

My 'red' is chili. For us in Asia, we have many kind of chilli, big, small, red and green. Almost all of our dishes uses chili. My friend even say that eating without chili is like a day without sunshine.... !!

I like it's red, so bright and shiny. I use my Nikon D70 and direct sunlight.

These two projects are on my needle now...

well I have some other projects actually, they are all crochet, and maybe I will share them with you later.

The purple one is a top from Japanese book which, as always, I don't understand a single words. But the pattern is so beautiful and since I am very easy to get bored so I choose project with many kind of stitches...

I am using MIAMI - Four Season Yarn, it's cotton and it's so soft. I like this yarn much.

And the grey one is a shawl, the pattern is from Vogue Knitting on the go Shawl - Vine Stitch wrap. I used Indonesian yarn for this shawl, I don't know what kind of yarn it is, I think it's wool.

I don't know when I can finish them... just do it lah...

Tutorial : Book Cover

Pengen bukunya lebih rapi dan gak gampang kotor ? mungkin jaman dulu bisa disampul pake kertas atau plastic, tapi kenapa nggak kita salurkan kreativitas kita ke buku buku kesayangan kita ?

Berikut ini adalah tutorial untuk cover Al-Qur’an ukuran 6’ x 9’. Biasanya temen temen yang pulang haji selalu dapat pembagian Al-Qur’an ini.

Alat dan Bahan yang diperlukan :

- Kain perca macam macam motif (B)
Potong : 2,5’ x 4,5’ --- 10 buah

- Kain motif potong 8,5’ x 19’ --- 1 buah (A)
- Kain lapis potong 8,5’ x 19’ ---- I buah
- Benang sewarna kain

Cara membuat :

- Sambung kain perca motif (B)
- Jahit dengan kain (A)
-

- Setrika kain lapis dibawah kain ini.
- Lipat sisi kiri dan kanan (2’) atau sesuai ukuran buku dan jahit seperti gambar

- Balikkan dan siap digunakan

Boleh juga ditambahkan book mark dengan cara dijahitkan ditengah lapisan dalam.

Slip-Stitch Texture

Another stitch to learn....

After reading Interweave Magazine Winter edition, I tried to learn this technique.

The above picture is just the simple and easiest woven pattern given.

and it is so simple, you just have to know about knit and purl and wyf (with yarn in front) and how to slip.... easy 'innit ?

And this second pattern is still using slip stitch tehnique but you need to slip the yarn a bit longer, and insert the needle under this loose strand and knit to next stitch.

Woven Pattern on Net Stitch

I just learnt this stitch, woven pattern on net stitch.

I learnt it from this book , it's quite easy to do it.

First you have to prepare basic net, it's just using dc and ch like the picture above.

Next you have to make chain in the square and over the chain space. Do it loosely to keep work flat.

In the book is only one chain in a square but it's look to tight for mine so I made 2 chains in a square and a chain over the ch space.

The result is like this (RS)

And this is the wong side

I thinks better to use the contras colour so you can see the horisontal and vertical stripe clearly. Mine is not to clear since I use blend colour in the same tone with the plain one.

Soto Padang

December 'Masak Bareng YUk ' event is Soto Padang.

I don't remember when was the last time I have this menu, maybe since 1993 when I visited Bukit Tinggi. It's just I prefer Soto ayam or Soto Lamongan better than this.

Actually I am not sure if this is the correct soto Padang. But I got the recipe from "Seri Masak Femina PRIMARASA" so I am a bit confident to post this.

Here is the recipe (I copied from the book)

SOTO PADANG

Ingredients :

400 gram beef

2000 ml water

1 tsp salt

5 kaffir lime leave

2 lemongrass

2 salam leaves

1 1/2 cm ginger

1 cm galangal

1/2 nutmeg, 5 cloves, 5 cm cinamon

spring onion

glass noodles (I don't use it)

Potatoes - boiled and dice

fried shallot, and shrimp crackers

Ground spices : 10 shallot, 4 garlic, 2 chilies, 1 cm turmeric, salt and pepper to taste

Method :

Boil beef with salt, kaffir lime leaves, lemongrass, salam leavs, ginger, galangal, nutmeg, cloves, and cinamon until tender.

Slice the beef thinly and fried until crispy ( I cheated --- I used ready made crispy beff from Pelita Nasi Padang)

Fry the ground spice until fragrant and add to the stock.

Add spring onion and serve hot.

I serve it with rice cube and this 'kampung crackers' since I can not find the 'kerupuk merah'

Blue baby hat

This blue baby hat was made for one of my friend who just has a baby girl.

I plan to make a pair of booties to comlete it.

It's just simle crochet with sc, dc and shell stitch, using 'Four Season - Cotton quick' yarn in blue and blend colour, and hook no 4.

Update : the booties finished, using Indonesian Cotton Thread blue and white, and hook no 4

The pattern is from Thata's book second edition, Crochet for Baby.

PEPES AYAM ( Steam Chicken wrapped in banana leaves )

This November 'Masak Bareng' menu is Pepes Ayam or steamed chicken wrapped in banana leaves.

The event is hosted by Dheeta and friends.

I am not good at cooking but I tried to make this pepes my way, as I don't really know how to make it. But luckily my son like it. So here is the recipe...

Ingredients :

Chicken fillet

Banana Leaves

Lemongrass

Daun Salam ( salam leaves)

Ground Spices :

Shallots

Garlics

Candlenuts

Turmeric

Chili (optional) --- I don't use it

salt and sugar to taste

How to make :

- cut chicken in cubes, blend with the ground spices.

- Put 2 spoonfull of the chicken to banana leaves, add lemongrass and salam leaves

- Steam about 30 minutes and serve hot.

I grill the pepes after steamed to make it tastier.

You may serve it with sayur asam and since this pepes is for my children I do not add chili in it so I just serve with sambal belacan.

Simple projects

I don't know, it's looks like I am in knitting and crochet blue ...

Just do these simple and easy to do crochet and two tote bag for friends.

This square is as a pattern tester for Thata. And as always, her design is beautiful and you have to read the pattern carefully. I love this pink and green colour, looks georgeous in my eyes.

I use ICT ( INdonesian Cotton Thread ) and 3mm chochet hook.

Above is a headband, since my son refused to be my model (LOL) I took the picture with my hubby's golf ball which are scattered arround in the yard.

The pattern is from here. It should be a bookmark but mine is too big cause I use bigger yarn, so I made it to a headband.

Those two totebags are for Evi who will go back to Jakarta and for Vina who will move to Perth this December. Please use them as a grocery bag instead of the plastic one.

It's machine applique and hand embroidery. And also my 'Handmade by Hernik' brand at the back, it's machine embroidery.

The last one is hat. Few weeks ago my friends in DC groups displayed all the hats they'd made this year. That made me want to make one too. So here it is....

Thanks to be my model Ahmed... it's too big though...

Trip to Melaka

Yesterday, November 19, we Pengajian WIATMI++ Kuala Lumpur had trip to Melaka.

It was so nice that we can go with our friends... and my hubby was so kind to me, he picked up the children and be at home with them, thanks a lot.....

Please forgive me for once again writing in Bahasa Indonesia, couse it's easier for me as my english is not that good... I know....

So ikutan eventnya Deetha dan kawan kawan di ' Masak Bareng Yuukk..!!! '

Temanya kali ini adalah Rolade Tahu.

Buat aku masakan ini agak mudahlah sebagai orang yang gak bisa masak. Jadi resep aku ini main cemplung aja ya gak tahu ukurannya yang pasti, dikira kira aja deh...

ROLADE TAHU

Bahan :

2 buah tahu cina putih (dipasar sini disebutnya tahu lembut, karena ada satu jenis lagi yang agak keras)
ayam cincang
udang cincang
4 butir telur
1 wortel
daun bawang rajang halus
bawang merah
bawang putih
garam
merica
royco dikit

Cara membuatnya :

1. Haluskan tahu, sisihkan
2. Haluskan bawang merah, bawang putih, garan, merica.
3. Parut wortel dngan parutan yang besar --- duh... apa namanya ya ?
4. Campurkan bumbu halus dengan tahu, tambahkan wortel, royco, ayam cincang, udang cincang dan daun bawang, aduk rata.
5. Tambahkan 1 butir telur, aduk rata.
6. Sisa telur buat dadar sebanyak diperlukan.

---> ambil 1 lembar aluminium foil atau daun alasi dengan telur dadar, tambahkan 2 sendok makan adonan tahu, gulung , dan kukus selama kurang lebih 20 menit.

angkat dan sajikan hangat....

Selain dimakan dengan saus sambal bisa juga dipakai untuk campuran sup, potong potong, masukkan ke sup sayuran....

Alhamdulillah anak anak suka....

Those two were planed to submited to our merajut group competition, but.... not finish until the deadline.... *sigh...*

The red bag above is a small bag for my new Al-Qur'an -- a gift from ceuk Zaza ... thanks Ceuk---. It's crochet using cotton yarn gift from Thata-- thanks Tha...

I use what we call 'Tusuk Ilusi' from Thata's book 2. Isn't it look georgeous...???

And the last one is fingerless glove. Lace knitting, using Thata's yarn as well.

That's all for now... Iam doing a lace shawl now and will update later....

This project was started last April when I went to Beijing and finished last two week. But still need some trimming.

The pattern is from Japanese magazine, actually this is a combine of two pattern. I like the diamond pattern from chest down but I want to make it as tank top, so I combine with other pattern.

So sorry I don't know the name of the mag, since it is in japanese character, and the book is in the box already.

I use 6 balls of Katia Luna, colour 7205 and 4mm sircular needle.

So sorry for the photo.. I can not take my own pic in the mirror...

Baby Quilt Week

Amanda has this event, baby quilt week, and I happened have one baby quilt project.

This blanket is for my friend Yuni for her baby girl Ayesha.

It's just simple nine patch pattern in pink.

I got the pattern from one of my magazine which I can not find it anymore. I think it's in one of that box already... ha..ha..

I am back

Well.. not really back.

I was just back from holiday last two week. We went to Jakarta and Pangkal Pinang (South Sumatera). It was just like our any other vacation when we back to 'kampung'. Visiting family and friends, going to the beach, shopping a little bit and check check our house in Pamulang.

It was so great that I can come to our 'mari merajut' meet out last month. I enjoyed it very much, met some new knit-crochet friends, talked about yarn and even hunting yarn to nearly closed market...!!! It was awesome.....

Now back in KL I still can not do much project. We have to move (again) this weekend so I am busy packing and everything....

I think the last thing to pack is this... my sewing machine. Or maybe I don't have to pack it, just put in my car and we going, since the new house is not too far.

But I manage to finish some project during these days.

Well, see you in our new house ....
